There are many important characters in the story " The Necklace ". But Matilda is one of the most impressive and powerful character. She plays a marvellous role in this story and leaves an extraordinary impact on the readers. She gets rewards for her wonderful role. Her role makes this story alive and thrilling. The writer uses her as the main character of the story. Her presence in the story makes this story meaningful .

There are many features of Matilda which are shown by the diagram:- 




Matilda is a young,pretty woman. She is a dreamy woman. She is a discontented woman. She likes comfort and luxuries. But she belongs to a middle class family and she is always unhappy. She marries a clerk Mr. Loisel. One day they are invited to a minister's party. Matilda borrows a diamond necklace from her friend for a party. But she loses this necklace. It is artificial.  But she buys a new real necklace and returns it . They repay the loan on it by next ten years. Finally Matilda changes physically. Now she looks rough,hard and an old woman.



Thus Matilda is one of the most important character who makes this story very much interesting and thrilling. All the readers have a keen interest to read this story and finally, we can say Matilda is the chief figure of the story.
