Q1. What  did  Lencho  hope  for? 

Q1. लेंचो को क्या उम्मीद थी?

Answer.  Lencho  hoped  for  rain.  as  it  was  much  needed  for  a  good  harvest. 


  • Hope:-आशा

  • Harvest:-फसल



Q2.  Why  did  Lencho  say  the  raindrops  were  like  „new  coins‟? 

Q2. लेंचो ने बारिश की बूंदों को 'नए सिक्कों' की तरह क्यों कहा?

Answer  :-  He  said  this  because  his  crop  really  needed  rain  to  be  a  good  harvest.  so  he  saw  the  rain  as  „new  coins‟.

Q3.  How  did  the  rain  change?  What  happened  to  Lencho‟s  fields?

Answer:  The  rain  changed  into a hailstorm.  Hails  fell  on  the  house,  the  garden,  the  hillside  and  the  cornfield.  They destroyed  Lencho‟s  fields  completely.

Q4.  What  were  Lencho‟s  feelings  when  the  hail  stopped? 

Q4. जब ओले गिरे तो लेंचो की क्या भावनाएँ थीं?

Answer:  After hail stopped, Lencho's feelings were  filled with sadness. The  hail  had  left  nothing.  He  felt  that  they  would  have  no  corn  that  year.

Answer:  Lencho  had  faith  in  God.  He  felt  that  God‟s  eyes  saw  everything.  He  wrote  a  letter  to  God.

Answer:  Postmaster  read  the  letter.

 Answer:  The  postmaster  laughed  when  he  read  Lencho‟s  letter  but  soon  he  became  serious.  He  didn‟t  want  to  shake Lencho‟s  faith.  So,  he  decided  to  collect money  and  send  it  to  Lencho  on  behalf  of  God.

Q8.  Was  Lencho  surprised  to  find  a  letter  for  him  with  money  in  it?

 Answer:  Lencho  was  not  surprised  to  find  a  letter  with  money  from  God  as  he  believed  that  God  would  help  him.

Answer:  There  were  only  seventy  pesos  in  the  envelope  whereas  Lencho  had  demanded  a  hundred  pesos.  The difference  in  the  amount  made  him  angry.

 Answer:  Lencho  has  complete  faith  in  God  as  he  is  instructed  that  God  knows  everything  and  helps  us  in  our problems.  



Q2.  Why  does  the  postmaster  send  money  to  Lencho?  Why  does  he  sign  the  letter  God?

Q2. पोस्टमास्टर लेंचो को पैसे क्यों भेजता है? वह भगवान पत्र पर हस्ताक्षर क्यों करता है?

 Answer:  The  postmaster  sends  money  to  Lencho because he doesn't want Lencho's faith in God should break.  He  gathers  money  with  the  help  of  his  post  office  employees  and  friends  on  behalf  of God  and  signs  the  letter  „God‟  so  that  Lencho‟s  faith  does  not  get  shaken.

Q3.  Did  Lencho  try  to  find  out  who  had  sent  the  money  to  him?  Why  or  why  not?

Answer:  Lencho  did  not  try  to  find  out  who  had  sent  the  money  to  him.  It  was  because  he  had  complete  faith  in  God. He,  therefore,  didn‟t  bother  about  the  ¹sender. His  faith  in  God  was  so  strong  that  he  believed  that  he  had  sent  money  to  him  for  his  help  in  his  problem.




Q4.  Who  does  Lencho  think  has  taken  the  rest  of  the  money?  What  is  the  irony  in  the  situation? 

Q4. लेंचो के अनुसार बाकी पैसे किसने ले लिए हैं? स्थिति में विडंबना क्या है?

Answer:  Lencho  thinks  that  the  post  office  officials  have  taken  the  rest  of  the  money.  The  irony  in  the  situation  is  that the  post  office  officials  contribute  money  for  Lencho.  Yet  he  sees  them  as  „crooks‟.

Ans: Lencho is a hard working farmer. He has great faith in god. His crops need rain. When the rain comes, it suddenly changes into hailstones. The hailstones destroy Lencho's crops completely. He is very sad. He fears hunger for his family. He has onely one hope: help from god. He has great faith that God knows everything and helps the needy. So he decides to write a letter to God. He writes a letter to God and asks for one Hundred pesos.
