Ans. Mrs. Pumphrey is worried about Tricki. It has become hugely fat. It looks like a bloated sausage. Its eyes are blood red and rheumy. Its tongue lolls down its jaws.

Ans. He takes the dog Tricki to his surgery. There he does not give much food to it. He instead cuts its food. He keeps it on a strict diet. He keeps it under observation. At the end of the second day Tricki changes. It starts showing some interest in the surroundings. On the third day it whimpers.
Q. 3. Why is he tempted to keep Tricki on as a permanent guest?

Ans. He is tempted to keep Tricki on as a permanent guest. It is because that way they would get eggs, wine etc. This is supplied by Mrs. Pumphrey not for them but for Tricki. Mr. Herriot does not give these to Tricki.
Q. 4. Why does Mrs. Pumphrey think the dog's recovery is "a triumph of surgery"?
Q. 4. श्रीमती पम्फ्रे को कुत्ते का ठीक होना "सर्जरी की जीत" क्यों लगता है?
Ans. Mrs Pumphrey thinks that Tricki’s recovery is a triumph of surgery because his illness was very serious. She was of the opinion that there were very few chances of Tricki to improve and he needed immediate medical attention. Thus, his revival without any medicinal treatment was a great achievement, according to her.

Q. 1. What kind of a person do you think the narrator, a veterinary is? Would you say he is tactful as well as full of common sense?

Ans. I think the narrator, a veterinary surgeon is a very practical man. He is also tactful. He has a lot of common sense. He is kind-hearted and jovial kind of fellow. He at once understands Tricki's illness. He wants to keep Tricki on a permanent basis. It is his selfish ness because he gets supplies from Mrs. Pumphrey for Tricki. He consumes these. But it is not a mean quality.
Q. 2. Do you think Tricki was happy to go home? What do you think will happen now?
Q. 2. क्या आपको लगता है कि ट्रिकी घर जाकर खुश थी? आपको क्या लगता है अब क्या होगा?
Ans. Tricki was happy to go back home as he really loved his mistress and the comfort of his lavish life. He didn’t have any friends at home like in the hospital, but he seemed equally excited at the sight of Mrs Pumphrey. I think that Mrs Pumphrey will now be careful about Tricki’s diet and health. She may also give him exercise daily as prescribed by the vet earlier.
Q. 3. Do you think this is a real-life episode, or mere fiction? Or is it a mixture of both ?

Ans. I think it is a real-life episode with some part of fiction. It is not mere fiction. In fact it is a mixture of both.

Q. 1. This episode describes the silly behaviour of a rich woman who is foolishly indulgent, perhaps because she is lonely. Do you think such people are merely silly, or
can their actions cause harm to others?
Q. 1. यह प्रकरण एक अमीर महिला के मूर्खतापूर्ण व्यवहार का वर्णन करता है जो मूर्खता से भोगी है, शायद इसलिए कि वह अकेली है। क्या आपको लगता है कि ऐसे लोग केवल मूर्ख होते हैं, या क्या उनके कार्यों से दूसरों को नुकसान हो सकता है?
Ans. I think that persons like Mrs. Pumphrey are over-indulgent. Mrs Pumphrey is lonely. She can be called silly also because she lacks in common sense. All know that overeat ing and no physical exercise can make even an elephant ill. Such people can cause harm to others as Mrs. Pumphrey does to Tricki.
Q. 2. Do you think there are also parents like Mrs. Pumphrey ?
2. क्या आपको लगता है कि श्रीमती पम्फ्रे जैसे माता-पिता भी हैं?
Ans. Yes, there are parents like Mrs. Pumphrey. Later when things get out of their control they repent much. But losses can't be made up.
Q. 3. What would you have done if you were: (i) a member of the staff in Mrs.Pumphrey's household (ii) a neighbour? What would your life have been like, in general ?
Q. 3. यदि आप: (i) मिसेज पम्फ्रे के घर के कर्मचारी (ii) पड़ोसी होते तो आप क्या करते? सामान्य तौर पर आपका जीवन कैसा रहा होगा?
Ans. If I were in the staff of Mrs. Pumphrey. I could have politely advised her in the matter. The advice would be cut down Tricki's food. Give it light food. If I had been her neighbour, I could have advised her more strongly. Tricki was not ill. But it was the effect of rich food given to it. My life would have been all right. A man or a woman should have some practical common sense also.
Q. 4. What would you have done if you were in the narrator's place?
Q. 4. अगर आप नैरेटर की जगह होते तो क्या करते?
Ans. If I had been in the narrator's place, I would have done the same thing. He did not exploit Mrs. Pumphrey, nor would I do. Eating a part of Mrs. Pumphrey's food meant for Tricki was not bad in taste. It was playful.
