Ans: A ‘dust of snow’ means the fine particles of snow. This ‘dust of snow’ changed the poet’s mood. First, he felt sad. But the falling of the dust of snow changed his mood into happiness.

Ans: When the dust of snow fell on the poet, his mood became changed. First, he felt sad. But the falling of the dust of snow changed his mood into happiness.

Fire and Ice

Ans: Some people say that the world will end in fire. But other people say that the world will end in ice. The poet thinks that he has tasted the fire of ‘desire’. It will surely end the world.

Ans: The tiger terrifies the villagers by snarling around their houses. He terrifies them by showing his white fangs and long claws.

Ans: The tiger is inside his cage. He is angry and helpless. He hears the sound of the patrolling cars at night. He stares at the shining stars with his shining eyes.

Ans: An Asian Lion is a large tawny beast. If it roars while you are roaming in the jungle, you can identify it as an Asian Lion.

Ans: A Bengal Tiger has black stripes on its yellow body. If it eats you while you are roaming in the jungle, then it is a Bengal Tiger.

A leopard has spots on its body. It leaps on its prey and keeps attacking repeatedly. These features help us identify it.

A bear gives a very tight hug. If you feel a crushing embrace while wandering in the forest, it is probably a bear.

Amanda!

Ans: The girl yearns for freedom and peace. She wants to lead her life the way she likes. She has certain natural habits, but her parents do not like these habits. So, her parents always scold her.

Amanda has these habits, but she is an obedient and understanding girl.

Q. How old do you think Amanda is? How do you know this?

Ans: I think Amanda is around 12 or 13 years old. It is clear from the ‘acnes’ on her face.

Q. Is Amanda an orphan? Why does she say so?

Ans: Amanda is not an orphan. Her mother always scolds her, so she feels it would be better to have been an orphan. Then she could roam freely. She could create patterns on the soft dust with her feet.


Animals

Ans: The poet says that he has found the animals very peaceful and self-contained. They do not complain of their condition. They do not weep for their sins. In short, they are not like human beings.

Ans: The animals do not cry about their conditions. They do not weep for their sins like human beings. They do not discuss their duty to God like human beings.

Ans: The poet thinks that the ‘tokens’ of love, kindness and sympathy are shown by the animals. But now people have left these qualities behind.

The Trees

Ans:- Custard was a coward . That is why he was called a "cowardly dragon ". He did not like when all other animals laughed at him. So, he cries for a nice safe cage.

Ans:- Belinda  lived in a little White House. She had four pets - Ink, Blink, Mustard and Custard.

Ans. The pirate looked like a real pirate. He had pistols in both of his hands. He had a sword in his teeth. He had a black beard. And his one leg was of wood.
