Poet: Carl Sandburg
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbour and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
In this poem, the poet compares fog to a cat.
He says that the fog comes quietly and slowly, just like a cat walks softly on its feet.
The fog covers the harbour and the city silently. It looks as if the fog is sitting like a cat watching everything around it.
After staying for some time, the fog quietly disappears or moves away, just like a cat walks away silently.
The poem shows the quiet and mysterious nature of fog.
The poet says that the fog comes very quietly and softly, like a cat walking without making noise.
