I. Answer these questions in a few words or a couple of sentences.

1. How old was Evelyn when she went to the Royal Academy of Music?
जब एवलिन रॉयल एकेडमी ऑफ़ म्यूज़िक गई थीं, तब उनकी उम्र क्या थी?
Answer: Evelyn was seventeen years old when she went to the Royal Academy of Music in London.

2. When was her deafness first noticed? When was it confirmed?
उनके बहरेपन का पता सबसे पहले कब चला? इसकी पुष्टि कब हुई?
Answer: Her deafness was first noticed when she was eight years old. It was confirmed when she was eleven years old.

II. Answer each of these questions in a short paragraph (30–40 words).

1. Who helped her to continue with music? What did he do and say?
म्यूज़िक जारी रखने में उसकी मदद किसने की? उसने क्या किया और क्या कहा?
Answer: Percussionist Ron Forbes helped Evelyn. He played two large drums with different notes and told her, "Don't listen through your ears. Try to feel the music in another way." This helped Evelyn sense music through vibrations.

2. Name the various places and causes for which Evelyn performs.

Answer: Evelyn performs in prisons and hospitals. She also gives free concerts and teaches young musicians to encourage them.

How does Evelyn hear music?

Answer:

Evelyn became completely deaf at the age of eleven.  However, she did not give up her dream of becoming a musician. Ron Forbes taught her to feel music through different parts of her body. She learned to feel music through the vibrations produced by different instruments. She feels these vibrations through her skin, fingers, feet, and other parts of her body. By practising hard, she became a famous percussionist even though she could not hear with her ears.
