1. Why did Aurangzeb ban the playing of the pungi?

Answer: Aurangzeb banned the playing of the pungi because its sound was unpleasant and harsh.

2. How is a shehnai different from a pungi?

शहनाई पुंगी से किस तरह अलग है?
Answer: 1. Shehnai has better tonal quality than pungi.

2. Shehnai is longer and broader than a pungi. It has seven holes on the body of the pipe.

3. Where was the shehnai played traditionally? How did Bismillah Khan change this?

पारंपरिक रूप से शहनाई कहाँ बजाई जाती थी? बिस्मिल्लाह खान ने इसमें क्या बदलाव किया?
Answer: Traditionally, the shehnai was played in temples and at weddings. Bismillah Khan made it popular by playing it on concert stages in India and abroad.

4. When and how did Bismillah Khan get his big break?

Answer: Bismillah Khan got his big break in 1938 at the All India Radio station in Lucknow. His music became famous all over the country.

Answer: He refused because he loved India, especially Banaras and the Ganga River. He did not want to live away from his homeland.
