Answer the following questions in one or two sentences:- 

1. Why was Kezia afraid of her father?       केज़िया अपने पिता से क्यों डरती थी?

Answer: Kezia was afraid of her father because he was strict and spoke loudly. She thought he was a frightening person.

2. Who were the people in Kezia’s family?

      केज़िया के परिवार में कौन-कौन लोग थे?

Answer: Kezia’s family consisted of her father, mother, grandmother, and herself.

3. What was Kezia’s father’s routine?         केज़िया के पिता की दिनचर्या क्या थी?

(i) Before going to his office:

Answer: He had breakfast, read the newspaper, and asked Kezia to come and say goodbye.

(ii) After coming back from his office:

Answer: He had tea, rested, and talked to Kezia’s mother about his day.

(iii) On Sundays:

Answer: On Sundays, he lay on the sofa, slept, and rested after lunch.

4. In what ways did Kezia’s grandmother encourage her to get to know her father better? केज़िया की दादी ने उसे अपने पिता को बेहतर ढंग से जानने के लिए किन तरीकों से प्रोत्साहित किया?

Answer: Her grandmother asked Kezia to talk to her father and spend some time with him. She also asked Kezia to make a birthday gift for him so that they could become closer.

Discuss these questions in class with your teacher and then write down your answers in two or three paragraphs each:- 

1. Kezia's efforts to please her father resulted in displeasing him very much. How did this happen? केज़िया की अपने पिता को खुश करने की कोशिशों का नतीजा यह हुआ कि वे उससे बहुत नाराज़ हो गए। ऐसा कैसे हुआ?

Answer: Kezia wanted to make a birthday gift for her father. She made a pin-cushion and filled it with pieces of paper. She did not know that the papers were her father’s important speech. When her father found out, he became very angry and punished her.

2. Kezia decides that there are “different kinds of fathers”. What kind of father was Mr. Macdonald, and how was he different from Kezia’s father?केज़िया तय करती है कि "अलग-अलग तरह के पिता" होते हैं। मिस्टर मैकडोनाल्ड किस तरह के पिता थे और वे केज़िया के पिता से कैसे अलग थे?

Answer: Mr. Macdonald was a loving, friendly and playful father. He played with his children happily. Kezia’s father was strict, serious and quiet. He did not play with Kezia like Mr. Macdonald.

3. How does Kezia begin to see her father as a human being who needs her sympathy? केज़िया अपने पिता को एक ऐसे इंसान के तौर पर कैसे देखने लगती है जिसे उसकी सहानुभूति की ज़रूरत है?

Answer: When Kezia’s mother and grandmother went to the hospital, she was alone with her father. At night, she had a nightmare. Her father comforted her and took care of her. Then she understood that her father was also tired and needed love and sympathy.
