कविता के बारे में

“Fire and Ice” कविता Robert Frost द्वारा लिखी गई है।
इस कविता में कवि दुनिया के अंत के बारे में बात करता है। कुछ लोग मानते हैं कि दुनिया का अंत आग (Fire) से होगा और कुछ लोग मानते हैं कि दुनिया का अंत बर्फ (Ice) से होगा।

कवि यहाँ आग और बर्फ का प्रयोग प्रतीक के रूप में करता है।

  • Fire (आग) → इच्छा, लालच, क्रोध और वासना का प्रतीक है।

  • Ice (बर्फ) → घृणा, नफरत और कठोरता का प्रतीक है।

कवि कहना चाहता है कि इंसान की बुरी भावनाएँ दुनिया को नष्ट कर सकती हैं।

“Some say the world will end in fire”

“From what I’ve tasted of desire”

कवि कहता है कि उसने मानव की इच्छाओं और लालच को अच्छी तरह समझा है।

“I hold with those who favor fire”

इसलिए कवि मानता है कि इच्छाएँ और लालच दुनिया को नष्ट कर सकते हैं।

“But if it had to perish twice”

लेकिन अगर दुनिया को दूसरी बार नष्ट होना पड़े,

“I think I know enough of hate”

तो कवि कहता है कि उसने लोगों की नफरत को भी देखा है।

“To say that for destruction ice”

नफरत भी बर्फ की तरह विनाश ला सकती है।

“Is also great”

बर्फ भी बहुत शक्तिशाली है।

“And would suffice”

और वह भी दुनिया को खत्म करने के लिए काफी है।

इस कविता में कवि बताता है कि:

  • अत्यधिक इच्छा और लालच इंसान को बर्बाद कर सकते हैं।

  • नफरत और कठोरता भी बहुत खतरनाक होती है।
