कविता

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbour and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

सरल हिन्दी में व्याख्या

इस कविता में कवि ने कोहरे (Fog) की तुलना बिल्ली से की है।
कवि कहता है कि कोहरा बिल्कुल बिल्ली की तरह धीरे-धीरे और बिना आवाज़ किए आता है।

कोहरा शहर और बंदरगाह (harbour) के ऊपर छा जाता है। ऐसा लगता है जैसे कोई बिल्ली चुपचाप बैठकर शहर को देख रही हो।

कुछ समय बाद कोहरा वैसे ही शांति से आगे बढ़ जाता है या गायब हो जाता है, जैसे बिल्ली धीरे से चली जाती है।

कविता में कोहरे की शांत और रहस्यमयी प्रकृति को दिखाया गया है।

कवि कहता है कि कोहरा बिल्ली के छोटे-छोटे पैरों की तरह बहुत धीरे और बिना आवाज़ किए आता है।

कोहरा बंदरगाह और शहर के ऊपर फैल जाता है, मानो वह बैठकर सब कुछ देख रहा हो।

“Haunches” का अर्थ है बिल्ली के मुड़े हुए पिछले पैर।
कोहरा भी बिल्ली की तरह चुपचाप बैठा हुआ लगता है।

“and then moves on.”

कुछ समय बाद कोहरा चुपचाप आगे बढ़ जाता है या गायब हो जाता है।

यह कविता बताती है कि कोहरा बहुत शांति से आता है और बिना आवाज़ किए चला जाता है।
कवि ने कोहरे की तुलना बिल्ली से करके उसकी शांत और रहस्यमयी चाल को सुंदर ढंग से दिखाया है।
